Being physically active is something that I really enjoy in my daily routine. Whether its a brief walk through the park or an intense strength training session, the activities bring me joy. If you were to tell me that I’d be on a film set doing these things, I would not have believed you one bit.
As an extra in a film, sometimes your role has minimal activity and more or less no lines to speak whatsoever. Even more is the amount of time you are on set in a patient state and trying to stay ready for your moment is called. This is true for all actors at points in their careers and the patience can deter many. Well in this film, captured by Bakers Studios / Onairr Productions, their was an unexpected downtime became a full on release of endorphins.

With limited time and cast, some of us who’ve played extra roles had to fill in unsual spaces. In certain scenes, there may have been repeated actors with wardrobe changes to bring a wholeness to the project. In one particular case, there was a gym scene that I was asked to be in which was meant to be brief. After getting setup an asked to do bench presses, I guess the team underestimated my joy for the gym. I got in a zone taking account the scene cuts and ques and just began crushing bench press reps. Initially the ask was to do 2 or 3 slow reps of only 20lbs to avoid fatigue. Instead I did maybe 10-15 sets of 130-165lbs to accommodate lead camera rolls and B roll footage. Needless to say, I was extremely tired by the end of the 8hr set but the directors loved it. 💪🏽 My muscles thanked me too.
Although I had no speaking lines to offer, I knew the assignment and executed. If given the chance to do it again, I would absolutely do it and would be happy. Prior to this experience, I’ve never gotten paid to work out so it was definitely worth every bit of the experience.
