There are many sets that I’ve been privy to be on and witness the magic of many actors, directors and crews. Some of these can be surprising to be a part of while others can have a typical expectation depending on the project. In this case, it was my first time to have experienced it on while on a moving bus.

The energy was high in a room filled with amazing contributors from a variety of disciplines. Creative spirits with an eagerness to be a part of something grand waited patiently for guidance and proper placement. The sun began to set as were called toward the exit doors to collectively form lines. As luck would have it, more than 20 of us loaded onto a charter bus with creative director Nick Benoit, providing direction.

Once inside, we began the process of filming various scenes in order of the script while being mindful of the daylight. With tight surroundings and fixed seating in proximity, there were a few problems that kept surfacing that became barriers in real time. With warmer temperatures outside, the bus driver kept the ac running to cool thetemperature inside down but it was problematic for proper audio. Turning on and off the ac frequently made the environment pretty humid causing sweating, hair and makeup issues and overall uncomfortable having being in winter attire. During the drives, there was random vibrations from the windows and surrounding vehicles parts, which were solved by me shoving coats and blankets in areas to dampen the noise. Lighting became an issue to keep balanced as the crew began rigging several artificial lights to fill in the environment. It was definitely a team effort to bring it all together and I’m soo thrilled that it worked.

The experience was unique in both the production and the message and I’m glad I was able to be a part of it. From Nick’s kind words and memorable scripture references to some of the cast members I was able to connect with – it was definitely an enjoyable time.
